BULK Space Media Lab offers Photowalks that are open to the public on a drop-in basis. Photowalking is a communal activity where we invite photographers or photography enthusiasts to join us on a walk to share space and get inspired by our surroundings with like-minded creatives. We ask participants to bring a camera of their own to take photos during the walk. Our Second photowalk entitled Defining Your Voice will be led by Kashira Dowridge, a Detroit-based Photographer and Director who explores the collective humanity of identity, giving her subjects and clients individuality and dignity through visual storytelling.
Kashira Dowridge is an Artist and Director based in Detroit, Her practice lies in researching social factors in psychology through photos, film, and installations that are represented throughout her works. As a survivor of sexual and traumatic experiences, Kashira's work seeks to create a safe space for all individuals regardless of how they identify to elevate, process, and release spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical bonds that hinder a person's path toward wholeness. Kashira's visual pieces act as healing spaces that reflect social and emotional topics specific to the local communities they display. Her work encourages people to move within these spaces to encounter and define their understanding of peace and vulnerability.
