Award-winning filmmaker Desmond Love hosted an immersive two-day workshop exploring the fundamentals of cinematography. This hands-on workshop covered essential topics such as camera types, technical settings, and lighting techniques to enhance storytelling.
Participants learned how to manipulate exposure, use specialized equipment, and understand the roles of key crew members like the director of photography and gaffer. Participants also engaged in practical exercises to deepen their understanding of camera movement, lighting, and composition.
Desmond Love, director and cinematographer, is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker born and raised in Detroit. He was the cinematographer for Sidelots (2018), which won awards in prestigious film festivals. He has directed and produced work for the Firelight media, PBS, Kresge Arts in Detroit, Mural Arts Philadelphia, and various non-profit and corporate organizations both local and abroad.
